| Are Smart Pages As Clever As They’re Cracked Up To be?
by: Jim Green
I don’t know for sure but I’m beginning to believe they might be… Having been a sceptic since I first heard about the concept I decided to put it to the test the weekend before last - but not wishing to invest in something that might not work, I downloaded the ‘Targeted Traffic Machine’ smart pages creator on a 90 day free trial basis. The system itself is excellent but the Help section proves lamentably short on basic instruction. Undaunted I ploughed ahead and generated 70 pages of which 33 survived. Here’s why: because I didn’t really know what I was doing I blew 50% of my core pages and had to rebuild them not once but twice over. The good news is that all 33 surviving smart pages have now been listed by the major search engines and many of them have captured top ten slots. Daily traffic to my web site has doubled but I don’t credit the ‘clever’ pages entirely because I get lots of visitors from submitting articles to sites like this one. The Moral to My Experiment… Try out smart pages generation for yourself but not until you are up to speed on what they are all about. Read Stephen Pierce’s book ‘UNDER OATH’ where you will learn how, when, and why to use them. I didn’t and caused myself needless anguish. Stephen should know- he invented the concept.
